2000 August 02 my first entry ever

My very first entry... oh, boy!

This has been an unusual week. For one, I did a ride-along with my brother and his partner last Saturday. It was great fun, and you'd better believe that I'm going go do it again when my 6 month waiting period is up.

Also, after two years of attending yoga classes, I was last night finally able to do the Tree Pose (a balance pose) without my usual floundering. It also looks like I'll be able to do the Upside-Down Right Angle Pose without a spotting partner next time. This is a huge victory because it requires un-stiff, un-sore shoulder muscles, which have always been my problem spot. I carry tension and stress in my shoulders, so they're typically tight and sore. But... I'm obviously getting better!

On the ballet front, last Monday I was finally able to do a releve with cous-de-pie (sp?) and balance while remaining fairly stable, all while trying to ignore the intense burning in my calves and derriere.

My brother's wedding is rapidly approaching... less than two weeks until the big day! Of course, I'm in the wedding party. I have the honor of wearing a princess-styled, spaghetti-strapped, long puffy flounced periwinkle (it's actually a really pretty color) dress made of chiffon and satin. It could definitely be worse; it could be mauve... and it could have a sweetheart neckline.

Believe it or not, but this is the 5th wedding I've been in... AND I've even planned one of my own (a false alarm). This virtually makes me a wedding specialist, who also happens to know the trends in bridesmaid dress colors. (Knowing all this information, I'll probably elope.) Didn't I already tell you... I can be hired out as a professional bridesmaid? I can even provide the dress. Just wait until you see my business cards....

Getting back to the original point: the wedding will be tons o' fun. Lots of relatives I haven't seen in YEARS are trekking in from all over the country. And, I'll have photos documenting the festivities. Expect to see some classic shots posted on the web site soon.

Signing off, until next time,
Lori
