2001 Sep 15 remembering the World Trade Center

I was in New York City for the first time last October. M and I visited the World Trade Center then for the first and last time.

My ticket stub:

We window shopped the stores in the basement. We purchased ice cream in one of the stores and ate it in the lobby before going up to the Observatory. The top was incredible. For a building so tall, I didn't expect it to feel so stable. It felt like we were on the ground, except that we had an unbelievable birds-eye view of the city. We took some pictures at the top but they didn't turn out so well because it was night. The pictures just look like a bunch of lights on black.

Afterward, we went down to the next level, the museum. We stayed quite a while in there, attempting to identify the surrounding buildings and learning about their history. There were high-powered viewers on that level, too.

Here's a photo of me at the top of the Empire State Building with the World Trade Towers in the background:

I still can't believe the World Trade Center is gone.
